Fluttered and flew

I encountered this camouflaged cutie sunbathing on a brick in my mom’s garden while visiting her on Cedar Creek Lake. He fanned his wings open and shut, waving at me as I fumbled for my phone with my only free hand. Surprisingly, I blindly captured him even though the sun drowned out my phone screen.

He slowly fluttered away in circles after I thanked him for his patience.

I had to retreat into the lake house to see if I lucked out with a good photo or not. In it, you can vividly see the antenna in the black shadow. The shadow reminds me of a bird and I also found the white spot in the head interesting. It makes him seem like he has a hole in his head - a real airhead, or just a reflection of something?
